I recently went an entire year without drinking alcohol. I am in my fifties and I am not an alcoholic but started to see how alcohol was negatively affecting my physical and mental health. I have learned so much this past year about this culturally accepted and legal drug called alcohol. I have learned how I have used alcohol in my life. As a nurse I have some very interesting observations on how the use of alcohol is not being addressed by most doctor’s in most cases. I want to write about my thoughts and experiences.
What People Say
Drinking more than a glass of wine or beer can take years off your life, a study has found. According to the research, drinking more alcohol is associated with a higher risk of stroke, fatal aneurysm, heart failure and death. The findings challenge the widely held belief that moderate drinking is beneficial to cardiovascular health, and support the UK’s recently lowered guidelines.
